Peace on the beach
Celebrate Earth Day on the beach in Lincoln City on the actual Earth Day, this Tuesday, April 22.
The activities will begin at 3 pm at the D River State Recreation Site, when anyone interested to join will help form a human peace symbol on the beach.
“We will have a windsock on a pole at the beach to designate where folks can join in so we can organize the Peace Circle(s) and get a head count for our permit,” said organizer Alanna Baumann. “We will be on the same beach area as the kite festival.”
Once the circle has been broken, participants can head over to the Congregational Church of Lincoln City, where members are helping coordinate a free community spaghetti dinner at 5 pm.
At 6 pm, a free community concert from Peace Band will fill the church sanctuary.
“The Peace Band is made up of area and Lincoln City musicians who play each week at our Lincoln City Music Circle and we are all donating our efforts for peace and our planet,” Baumann said. “We are a community band and not a church group. There will be a few other friends joining in as well to help present a community concert centered on peace and the Earth.”
The Congregational Church of Lincoln City is located at 2435 NW Oar Place in Lincoln City.
